Caprice Wummer has over 35 years of experience in public accounting. She oversees financial statement engagements for a diverse group of clients including nonprofit organizations providing children’s health services, real estate entities, retirement plans, and other industries.
Caprice's expertise in not-for-profit organizations includes extensive knowledge of financial accounting standards, government auditing standards issued by the comptroller of the United States, and the provisions of the OMB Uniform Guidance for Single Audits. She works collaboratively with her clients, keeping them informed of complex accounting rules including revenue recognition, contributions received, acquisitions, and procurements. She is a member of the AICPA nonprofit section, the Government Audit Quality Center and the Employee Benefits Audit Quality Center.
Caprice also has extensive experience with tax planning and return preparation for individuals, partnerships, LLCs, corporations, estates and trusts. She has worked with many clients to help them understand the tax implications of stock-based compensation, complex real estate transactions, and charitable gifting.
Caprice earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1984, and her Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1990. She joined Gilmore and Associates in December 2004.
Caprice lives in Castro Valley with her husband, and is active in several local nonprofit organizations that support the arts and education. She enjoys golf, yoga, and travel in her spare time.
